Attendees and participants will have the opportunity to meet Herman and Bisquick, two dogs recently rescued by Save-A-Pet staff and volunteers during a local humane investigation. Both dogs had multiple bite wounds, were very malnourished, and quite scared upon their arrival to Save-A-Pet. However, due to the efforts and the compassion of Save-A-Pet volunteers and staff, Herman and Bisquick’s wounds—both physical and emotional—quickly began to heal. Both dogs are now enrolled in Save-A-Pet’s “Kids Care” volunteer program, and Herman has represented Save-A-Pet at several offsite events.

Notes:
Participating in the walk-a-thon session of the event itself is not mandatory. You may register for the event, as a gesture to help support our dogs and cats, and attend the event simply to enjoy the day with fellow pet lovers!

Save-A-Pet presents "Back in Black" May Adoptions

Back. In. Black: Adopt Black Pets!
Change Their Future: May 2012

Black cats and dogs everywhere are donning their dark glasses and engaging their "flashy things" to wipe out the myths and stereotypes about black animals during Back in Black 2, a national adoption promotion. Save-A-Pet is holding a "Back in Black," promotion between May 1 and May 31 to highlight adorable, adoptable black dogs, cats, puppies and kittens.

Supported by national animal welfare organization Best Friends Animal Society®, about 100 animal rescue groups and shelters across the country including Save-A-Pet are participating. Last year, the Back in Black adoption event was introduced to showcase black dogs and cats and give them the best chance at being adopted. More than 900 pets found homes nationwide.

Guardian Angels make miracles happen!

Save-A-Pet’s no-kill mission promises unconditional love and life for all dogs & cats; regardless of the special circumstances they may face. Some animals may be older; some may have a medical condition. Some animals may be of an unpopular breed, some may have been abused, and in need of more time to learn to trust people again.

You can help ensure that many more lives can be saved and healed. You can help expand many more families. You can truly make a difference. You can make dreams come true—by becoming a Guardian Angel.

Individuals, families and businesses can become Guardian Angels by sponsoring the care of a “special needs” resident—also referred to as our “healing hearts” dogs and cats. Because of your support, these rescued animals can take as much time as they need to heal from physical, medical and emotional ailments.

This process takes just that—time—often months and sometimes years. For the thousands of families that have expanded their own family with the love of a healing hearts animals from Save-A-Pet: no timetable is too long. Please consider becoming a Guardian Angel today, and help our dogs and cats complete their healing so they can finally be adopted or fostered in a loving forever home they so richly deserve.

Save-A-Pet unveils Memorial Path created by local Eagle Scout: Order your commemorative brick today!

Through the dedicated service of Eagle Scout Scott Friedrichs, his fellow scouts and his generous family: Save-A-Pet Adoption Center is proud to introduce our new Memorial Path. This path itself is for pet owners who wish to take a quiet moment to remember a pet, friend or family member. The initial path and inlay of memorial bricks will be expanded over time with benches, additional flowers, additional bricks, and even additional paths. Your donation to the new Memorial Path benefits the residents of Save-A-Pet by helping to pay for the costs of rescue and care.

Your donation will be acknowledged with a commemorative memorial brick that will be permanently inlayed into the path. Each brick can accommodate 3 lines of text with thirteen characters per line. Example:

In memory of
Dearest Scruffy
We love you

Mail-in order forms will be available for download shortly. Please allow 3-4 weeks for your engraved brick to arrive and be installed into the path. Individual and pet memorials are gifts that provide critical funding for our residents while memorializing your loved ones in a beautiful and meaningful way.
