Volunteer FAQs

When is the next volunteer orientation?

We are currently holding two New Volunteer Orientations per month. After your volunteer application is submitted, our Volunteer Manager will be in touch and will provide the information for the next available Orientation.  The New Volunteer Orientations are generally held on Saturdays at the Save-A-Pet facility, and are about 1.5 hours in length.

What is the process to become a volunteer?

First, you will need to submit a volunteer questionnaire, and you can find that link on our Volunteer Opportunities page. The $20 new volunteer registration fee will also be requested before submitting the questionnaire. After your questionnaire has been submitted, all new volunteers must attend a volunteer orientation. We are currently holding two volunteer orientations per month, which are held at the facility. Lastly, you will receive training by one of our amazing trainers in the area you choose to participate in- dog walking, cat socialization, PetSmart, and more!

Are there any volunteer requirements?

All individuals must be at least 18 years or older to participate in our volunteer program. We ask that volunteers in any area volunteer an average of six hours per month during a six month period to maintain your active status. If you are not able to meet six hours per month, please email the volunteer manager at volunteer.manager@saveapetil.org. We also require that volunteers abide by our Terms & Conditions found in the volunteer questionnaire, and follow all safety direction provided to them by staff.

Can my child volunteer at Save-A-Pet?

While we are not able to have children and teens volunteer in the shelter, there are several other ways they can help the animals. Email Betty Kay at Volunteer.manager@saveapetil.org for more information.
