Happy Landings

"Hi, my name is Sullivan, and I was adopted on Monday August 9! I had a rough childhood, but was saved by Dr. Sullivan at Mundelein Animal Hospital. You may have seen my picture in the paper, I was in there twice!

Well, this man and lady saw my picture on the Save-a-pet website and called to meet me. I was on lots of medicine, but I was being taken care of a really nice lady named Bev until I was big enough to be returned to the shelter.

When I got to my new home, I ran all over the place, jumped on my brothers and sister; my sisters do not like me doing that, and wanted to play and eat all the time. I gained a bunch of weight, finished all my medicines, got my shots and had this operation that people call "getting snipped."

Now I am finally big enough to be officially adopted by my mom and dad. I am all better, except I wheeze a little, which bothers my mom a little, but not me at all! Thank you to Save-a-pet staff and Dr. Sullivan for giving a little guy like me a chance to have a loving and fun life! MEOW!"

It has been a while since I last sent in a picture of Cyclone (formally Natalie/Naomi), so I thought I would provide Save-A-Pet with an update. It was Cyclone's 6th Adoption Anniversary this past 4th of July weekend! She is about 9 1/2 years old, and has been in pretty good health since I adopted her. She still likes to bark very loudly at dogs and people, but that is really her only fault. If you want to post her in "Happy Landings", you can use the following quote with the picture: "Hi there, my name is Cyclone, and I was adopted from Save-A-Pet 6 years ago! My owner named me Cyclone, even though I am a girl, because I was really wild and crazy when I was first rescued. Here I am at my lake after a dip in the water, though I really prefer the water when it is frozen and I can run on top of it to play hockey!" Thanks!

Greetings from Panda's new home!

I know that many of your were very good friend's of Panda's and I promised to send an update this weekend so everyone knows how she's doing. Overall she has transitions nicely into home life. We have discovered that she loves mornings-she tends to have the most energy right after waking up and we no longer need alarm clocks :) We went to the vet today and getting her in the car was as difficult as it was getting her to our house. However she seems to enjoy riding in the hatch back trunk and with the Windows down now she doesn't mind, after the vet she jumped right it. Hopefully this means she will be a good passenger from now on. Unfortunately Panda is not really a fan of meeting strangers yet, and tends to be a bit aggressive. We're hoping that with some time she'll get into a new routine and slowly began to make new friends. She is doing very well with us, loves when we come home and loves long walks around the neighborhood. Knock on Wood she's also had no accidents all week.

I hope everyone is doing well, and if you're ever in our neighborhood, please feel free to stop by and visit. We know Panda misses some of you. Thanks for taking such good care of our girl for so many years!

We just wanted to send an update on our two wonderful dogs we adopted from Save-a-Pet last September. Steve is a Shih Tzu and Greg is a Shih Tzu/terrier mix. We adopted them as a pair – and quite a pair they are - they are almost inseparable! From the very beginning they have blended beautifully into our family. My two boys were hesitant about getting small dogs - we have always had big dogs in the past. But Steve and Greg won them over the minute they got to play with them in the yard at Save-a-Pet. Steve and Greg love to wrestle each other and watching them is so entertaining. Sometimes my boys can’t help but join the fray. They love belly rubs and going for walks. We had our yard fenced in for them so they can run loose (of course they still prefer their daily walks). My son Colin likes to say we have the perfect dog for every mood. If you’re in the mood to run and play we have Greg, who is always ready to play at a moments notice. If you want to snuggle we have Steve, who loves to cuddle and has the softest fur ever. Thanks Save-a-Pet for giving us our furry friends Steve and Greg.

It has been almost three years since we adopted Max and he is just one of the family. We enjoy taking him on walks, playing in the yard or just cuddling up for a nap! He is spoiled rotten with love and spoils us right back. We are so happy to have him in our lives and even Grandpa loves when we bring Max for a visit! Thanks for having such a great organization!
