Save-A-Pet Adoption Center, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, is one of the largest no-kill rescues in Lake County, and one of the very few operating a full-time adoption center, as well. Save-A-Pet does not temperament test dogs and cats, nor do we discriminate against any breeds.
 
Because we are a no-kill organization, rescuing and caring for our dogs and cats costs more than $900,000 per year. In order to continue saving lives and expanding: all of the residents really need your help. The power of your compassion and the effects of your contributions are invaluable. We need as much compassion and as many contributions as possible to care for our residents, and to save more homeless dogs and cats.

Whether it helps to feed a dog or cat for a whole month, or helps to vaccinate a dog or cat for a whole year, the impact of your membership will surely provide annual support that all of the residents can truly rely on. Save-A-Pet is also pursuing additional funding to ensure the long-term sustainability of our organization.

Please remember that Save-A-Pet does NOT receive any government funding or benefactor funding. All animal care expenses are paid for solely by the generosity of individual donations (such as memberships), grants, sponsorships, and bequests.

Membership contributions are only made once a year and you will always be given the choice to renew your membership. If you choose YES—you are choosing to help save more lives!

What is the actual impact of each membership contribution?

Whether it helps to feed a dog or cat for a whole month, or helps to vaccinate a dog or cat for a whole year, your membership will provide annual support that the current residents can rely on; such that additional donations can be used to save more lives and secure our long-term future.

How long does my membership last, and what if I don't want to renew it?

Membership contributions are only made once per YEAR---and you will always be given the choice to renew your membership the following year. If you choose YES---you are choosing to help save more lives!

How much do memberships cost?

How is a membership donation different than a regular donation?

A membership is different than a generic donation in two very important ways. One, it represents an ongoing relationship between members and Save-A-Pet. Membership unites us as a community of advocates for no-kill animal welfare, and this is a special relationship that extends beyond a one-time donation. Two, because of this relationship, members receive special merchandise that acknowledges their commitment to Save-A-Pet, and helps to build awareness of our rescue work.

Why is Save-A-Pet spending money on member benefits like car magnets?

In order to truly expand a community of support for Save-A-Pet, our residents, and no-kill rescue: we need all the publicity we can get! Monies spent on car magnets pales in comparison to the value of the exposure that our members and the car magnets can provide for Save-A-Pet and all of our residents by displaying their magnets on their vehicles.

Why should someone who does not live near Save-A-Pet become a member?

For nearly 40 years, Save-A-Pet has rescued dogs and cats from all over Chicagoland, and at times from out-of-state, as well. Save-A-Pet has even rescued dogs & cats from Hurricane Katrina. Save-A-Pet will also adopt out our dogs and cats to residents of any city or state who are committed to responsible pet ownership. It's not about distance: it's about supporting thousands of animals who need your help, and who will rely on Save-A-Pet for their survival, safety, and care.
